What are ‘blogs’?

If your considering being a contributor on someone else's blog then think of a blog as Facebook on steroids. Its as easy as that. Blogging can be mastered in minutes .

If your considering building your own blog the think of blogs as web pages on steroids. If your not afraid to experiment and self-learn they are easy to learn.

Besides doing everything a web page does they allow visitors to add to the site by 'posting' articles and pictures to the site as well as make comments on whatever they or others have 'posted' on the site. This makes blogs a little more useful in that they are easier to update, can be used as standard web pages, can be used for journals, diaries, bulletin boards, forums, and newsletters in either a privatized or community environment. And most importantly can be updated and changed by more than one person, making them interactive.

Our Independence WEEKEND Picnic Welcome Mat:

We've invited Democrats, Republicans, Liberals and at least one Socialist...

We're sure that there will be religious and non-religious people, multiple denominations of Christian, an agnostic, a deist and possible someone of a non-Christian faith...

We have combat and non-combat veterans, public servants, community organizers and volunteers present...

We don't care about your immigration status, just the content of your character...

We won't ask but you can tell if you want.... or not...

We have unionist and entrepreneurs...

We gather this day to celebrate, among other things, a document that says "...that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights..."

Welcome

2019 AGENDA and ACTIVITIES:

9-10am Early-Bird Crew: Load and unload the trailer, set-up (clear bathrooms, sweep and clear shelter) arrange and cover tables, sanitation decorations, set-up games. Little Man.

10 AM Welcome Crew:
The Welcome Crew’s responsibility is that when they see someone arrives they greet them with any available carts we have to assist moving equipment from the parking lot (vehicles) and transferring the food and equipment to the appropriate area of the shelter. If anyone has room to bring an additional dolly, wagon or cart this would be helpful.

10-11am Fire-up grills, set-up hot and cold tables, prep table.

11:30-Noon Grills should be cooking.

10-11am PARK SPONSORED ACTIVITY: Critter Feeding, 10-11am. There are some hungry animals at the Visitor Center! Stop by to watch our critters eat their breakfast. Maybe YOU can help feed one of the animals!

1pm Free Hayride: This starts promptly at 1pm. It will be first-come first served based on the sign-up sheet and the capacity of the wagon[s].

Group picture: We will take the group picture when the Hayride returns. Everyone should gather at the shelter when the wagon returns.

All Day/2pm PARK SPONSORED ACTIVITY: Korean War Display at the Military Museum, at 2 pm there will be a 45-minute presentation on Task Force Smith --the first ground battle between the US and North Korea. Also Troy has volunteered to conduct a walking tour of the museum... let him know if your interested.

About 3pm Door Prizes: Family and under 17 game challenges begin.

All Day Beach Selfies: Photo backdrop (Beach Scene & props) for selfies... wear your beach gear!

All Day Art Project: Pitch in and help create a picnic themed mural for a future group photo backdrop.

Horseback Rides, Military Museum, Nature Museum:
Everyone is free to visit these on their own. The Horseback and Pony rides have a fee (we will post the fees at the picnic). We will have a list for anyone who wants to do these activities as a group. All four activities are in the same area of the park and we can convoy up to them from the shelter. The Museum and stables close at 5pm so we will target the group for sometime soon after the group pictures.

The park closes about 9pm. We do not have a designated leave time, we play it by ear. We may start breaking down equipment throughout the day... this is not a hint that its time to leave.

AS YOU ARRIVE: We will have a picnic table by the road. Unload your car there and then park.
